World Cup Fever

Hedworth Lane are getting into the global spirit of the World Cup.

This week, the children are researching one of the 32 countries of the World Cup. They will be fact finding and completing activities linked to their class’s chosen country.

‘Wear a kit of the World Day’

On Tuesday 26th June, children across the school were encouraged to wear football tops/strips/kits from around the world. We had a great response and lots of pupils took part.

Friday is KS2 Football Tournament Day!!

All of the classes in KS2 were split up into 16 teams from the World Cup. The children had a great first half of the morning playing teams on their pitch in the first round.

Quarter Final Time!!

The successful quarter finalists were…

It’s the Semi-Finals!!

The successful semi-finalists were France who played Germany and Switzerland played Tunisia.

Into the Finals!!

In the final were Switzerland and France.

It was a very close match, but in the final few seconds, Mark Forster (playing for France) scored the winning goal.

FINAL SCORE:  France 4 Switzerland 3.

Well done France!
